Today I was in Kibera slums to launch the clean-up of informal settlements by the National Youth Service. I was conducted on an inspection tour of the works by more over 600 servicemen and women helping clear blocked drainage and collecting garbage to help improve sanitation. 3,000 young men and women in Kibera will be engaged in the sanitation programme by NYS where part of their wages will be saved into a fund to enable them continue with income generating activities after programme ends. The the clean-up programme will be rolled out to other areas to improve on sanitation in all parts of the country
